Nara Lokesh Inaugurates Ashok Leyland Bus Manufacturing Plant Near Vijayawada
Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art bus manufacturing facility by Ashok Leyland near Mallavalli, close to Vijayawada. The new plant is poised to enhance the state’s industrial capabilities and contribute significantly to job creation and skill development.
In a tweet announcing the launch, Lokesh emphasized the significance of this project for Andhra Pradesh, noting that the plant spans across 75 acres and will manufacture both diesel and electric buses. He praised the facility as a major milestone in the state’s industrial development. “This manufacturing plant will not only create numerous job opportunities but also enhance skill development in the region,” Lokesh remarked.
A key highlight of the project is the inclusion of the Switch Electric double-decker bus, which is expected to promote eco-friendly and sustainable mobility solutions in the state. Lokesh stated that the adoption of electric vehicles is an important step toward reducing the carbon footprint and advancing the state’s commitment to greener transportation options.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Ministers T.G. Bharat, Kollu Ravindra, and MLA Yarlagadda Venkatarao, along with officials from Ashok Leyland. Together, they celebrated this milestone as a significant contribution to the state’s growing industrial sector and its emphasis on environmental sustainability.
With this new manufacturing plant, Andhra Pradesh is set to become a major hub for vehicle production, particularly in the burgeoning electric vehicle market.
