NEET-UG 2024 Results Declared Amidst Controversy: Supreme Court Orders Identity Masking
New Delhi, [Date]: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the centre and city-wise results for the NEET-UG medical entrance examination on Saturday, adhering to directives from the Supreme Court amidst allegations of irregularities.
Initially announced on June 5, the results have now been made public in a revised format as per the Supreme Court’s orders. The apex court is currently examining multiple petitions regarding alleged malpractices during the exam, including concerns over paper leaks.
Conducted on May 5 across 4,750 centres in 571 cities, with an additional 14 cities abroad, NEET-UG saw participation from over 24 lakh candidates.
The Supreme Court’s directive to mask the identities of candidates aims to investigate whether those appearing at centers under suspicion achieved higher scores compared to candidates from other exam venues. This move forms part of ongoing proceedings as the court prepares to resume hearings on July 22.
Several petitions before the court seek various measures, including cancellation of the exam, conducting a re-test, and initiating a court-monitored investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding this highly regarded examination.
The NEET-UG exam holds critical importance for medical aspirants nationwide, determining admissions to undergraduate medical courses across the country.
