New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a summons to the aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Mr. Bhibhav Kumar, in response to allegations of assault involving AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal.
The hearing for Mr. Bhibhav Kumar has been scheduled for Friday at 11 AM, as per the summon notice.
The NCW took suo moto cognizance of a media report titled “Ex-DCW chief Swati Maliwal accuses Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary of assaulting her,” wherein Ms. Maliwal alleged severe assault at the Chief Minister’s residence by Mr. Bhibhav Kumar, who serves as Mr. Kejriwal’s Private Secretary.
In light of these serious allegations, the Commission has issued a notice, emphasizing the necessity of compliance, failing which further actions may be taken.
The incident has sparked controversy and speculation, given Mr. Kumar’s significant role in the Chief Minister’s office, facing accusations from a prominent public figure such as Ms. Maliwal.
Earlier, Ms. Maliwal visited the Civil Lines police station on Monday and reported that a member of the Delhi chief minister’s personal staff had allegedly “assaulted” her at the chief minister’s official residence, though she has yet to file a formal complaint in this regard.
On Tuesday, Mr. Sanjay Singh addressed a press conference, denouncing the incident involving Ms. Maliwal as “highly condemnable.”
