CBI Makes Initial Arrests in NEET-UG Paper Leak Case
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made the first arrests in the NEET-UG paper leak case, detaining two individuals from Patna, officials reported on Thursday.
The suspects, Manish Kumar and Ashutosh Kumar, are accused of providing safe locations for exam aspirants where they were supplied with leaked examination papers and answer keys.
To date, the CBI has registered six FIRs in connection with the NEET paper leak case.
The NEET-UG exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is essential for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in government and private institutions nationwide.
This year’s examination took place on May 5 at 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 international locations, with over 2.3 million candidates participating.
The CBI filed its first FIR on Sunday, following the Ministry of Education’s announcement to transfer the investigation of the alleged exam irregularities to the central agency. This move came in response to demands for a CBI probe from a segment of protesting students.
