New Bi-Weekly Express Train Service Launched from Secunderabad to Vasco da Gama
Hyderabad: A new bi-weekly express train service was inaugurated on Sunday, October 6, connecting Secunderabad with Vasco da Gama in Goa, enhancing travel options for tourists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy launched the service at Secunderabad Railway Station, highlighting its significance for travelers eager to explore the popular tourist destination of Goa.
The train will depart from Secunderabad every Wednesday and Friday, with return trips from Vasco da Gama scheduled for Thursdays and Saturdays. Train number 17039 will operate from Secunderabad to Vasco da Gama, while train number 17040 will cover the return journey. This initiative aims to meet the high demand for train travel to Goa, which has historically seen existing services operate at full capacity.
Previously, only one weekly train service was available from Secunderabad, which required passengers to combine routes at Guntakal, making it challenging to secure tickets. The introduction of this new service is expected to provide increased seat availability, more convenient travel schedules, and direct connectivity to several stations along the route, including Shadnagar, Gadwal, and Kurnool City.
Expressing his appreciation, Kishan Reddy, also the MP from Secunderabad, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support in launching this service. He emphasized that it would cater to the growing number of tourists traveling from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to Goa, ultimately enhancing regional connectivity and promoting tourism.
