Hyderabad Cabinet Approves Key Projects, Including New Osmania General Hospital and Metro Rail Expansion
Hyderabad: In a significant move, Telangana’s Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy announced that the state cabinet has approved the transfer of Goshamahal Police Stadium land for the construction of a new campus for Osmania General Hospital. This decision came after an extensive four-hour cabinet meeting that covered various pressing issues, including Kharif paddy procurement and infrastructure development.
Srinivas Reddy highlighted that the cabinet approved a new 76.4 km Metro Rail line, connecting five routes at an estimated cost of ₹24,269 crore. The project, which is set to be executed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, aims to share the financial burden between the central and state governments for Metro Rail Project Phase II.
In addition, the cabinet sanctioned the allotment of 211 acres for the construction of a Tribal University in Mulugu, fulfilling a promise made to Telangana in the AP Reorganisation Act. The location had faced delays due to negotiations between the state and central governments.
The cabinet also agreed to allocate the Gachibowli stadium premises for a new sports university, with plans to establish subsidiaries in Madhira and Huzurnagar.
Furthermore, Srinivas Reddy announced that the state government will initiate the Kadem Project in the erstwhile Adilabad district to address silt removal and restoration. This initiative aims to expand across the state, focusing on other neglected irrigation projects.
These decisions reflect the cabinet’s commitment to enhancing healthcare, education, and infrastructure in Telangana, setting the stage for significant advancements in the region.
