New Delhi: OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has signed a deal with Reddit to train its artificial intelligence (AI) models using posts from the popular community discussion platform.
As part of this partnership, OpenAI will incorporate Reddit content into ChatGPT and other new products. To facilitate this, OpenAI will access Reddit’s Data API, which provides real-time, structured, and unique content.
“This will enable OpenAI’s AI tools to better understand and showcase Reddit content, especially on recent topics,” Reddit stated.
The deal will also allow Reddit to introduce new AI-powered features for its users and moderators. Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it will enhance ChatGPT with timely and relevant information and explore the potential for enriching the Reddit experience with AI-driven features.
This collaboration aligns with other content agreements and does not alter Reddit’s Data API Terms or Developer Terms.
“Reddit has become one of the internet’s largest open archives of authentic, relevant, and up-to-date human conversations on a wide range of topics,” said Steve Huffman, Reddit Co-Founder and CEO. “Including it in ChatGPT upholds our belief in a connected internet, helps people find more of what they’re looking for, and helps new audiences discover communities on Reddit.”
