India’s diplomatic mission under Operation Sindoor is making waves globally, with an all-party parliamentary delegation—led by senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor—concluding a high-impact visit to Colombia before heading to Brazil. The initiative aims to spotlight India’s unwavering stand against cross-border terrorism and promote its zero-tolerance policy on terror across international platforms.

According to the Indian Embassy in Colombia, the visit effectively communicated India’s uncompromising stance against terrorism. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy stated, “Operation Sindoor stands as a testament to India’s zero-tolerance approach — there can be no coexistence between terror and dialogue, between trade and bloodshed.”

The delegation, comprising MPs from across party lines—including Shambhavi (LJP-Ram Vilas), Sarfraz Ahmad (JMM), GM Harish Balayogi (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), and Tejasvi Surya (BJP)—engaged in discussions with Colombian leaders and the Indian diaspora. The Indian ambassador to Colombia, Vanlalhuma, hosted a reception, further strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties.

During the trip, Colombia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio retracted an earlier statement expressing condolences over the deaths in Pakistan following Indian counterterror operations. Standing alongside Tharoor, Villavicencio affirmed, “With the detailed information received today, we now fully understand the real situation in Kashmir and are committed to continuing dialogue with India.” Tharoor welcomed the diplomatic correction, remarking, “It was important to clarify that the loss of terrorists cannot be equated with the innocent lives lost due to terrorism in India. We appreciate Colombia’s understanding.”

Colombia’s response is particularly significant, as the country is poised to take a seat on the UN Security Council next year. A strong partnership and mutual understanding between India and Colombia could play a crucial role in shaping global counterterrorism efforts.Adding to the positive momentum, former Colombian President César Gaviria, a leading political voice, publicly expressed solidarity with India, emphasizing, “We check any kind of terrorism. Be certain that under any circumstances, Colombia will stand with India.”

The delegation’s South American outreach is part of India’s broader strategic diplomacy under Operation Sindoor, launched following the Pahalgam massacre—an attack executed by The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba affiliate allegedly operating from Pakistan. The mission now continues in Brazil, as India presses forward in unifying global voices against terrorism and in reinforcing the message: There is no middle ground when it comes to terror.
