Over 35,000 Green Carpets Ensure Comfort and Cleanliness for Worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah

In a continuous effort to maintain comfort and cleanliness for the millions of worshippers and pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, over 35,000 green carpets are spread across 30 different sites within the mosque. These carpets are meticulously inspected and maintained as part of a comprehensive program to enhance the prayer experience.

Ensuring Comfort and Cleanliness for Worshippers

The carpets, which are increased in number on Fridays to accommodate the larger crowds, are part of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque’s extensive maintenance plan. The program involves cleaning and sterilisation using modern, environmentally friendly technologies, ensuring the highest levels of hygiene and comfort for those attending prayers.

Routine Maintenance and Carpet Replacement

To maintain optimal comfort and cleanliness, the carpets are replaced every three days. This frequent replacement ensures that the carpets are always fresh and in the best condition for worshippers. Each carpet is subject to rigorous inspections before being returned to the prayer areas. The inspection process checks for any defects or damage that could affect the quality of the carpet, with particular attention given to details like the fabric, color, and edges.

Focus on Quality and Sustainability

The ongoing efforts to maintain and improve services at the Two Holy Mosques reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to quality and sustainability. The authority behind these operations works diligently to ensure that worshippers and pilgrims experience a seamless and comfortable environment, marked by cleanliness and a high standard of care.
