Escalation in Gaza: Death Toll Rises Amid Ongoing Conflict
Gaza: Health authorities in the Palestinian enclave reported a grim milestone as the death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip reached 35,903. According to a press statement released on Saturday, the situation has escalated significantly in the past 24 hours.
During this period, the Israeli army’s actions resulted in the deaths of 46 Palestinians and injuries to 130 others. Since the outbreak of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October 2023, the total casualties have now reached 35,903 deaths and 80,420 injuries, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The statement highlighted the dire circumstances, noting that some victims remain trapped under rubble due to heavy bombardment and a lack of sufficient rescue operations.
Israel initiated a large-scale offensive against Hamas in response to a Hamas incursion into southern Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities and around 250 individuals being held hostage.
