Kanpur: Parents Assault Son and His Girlfriend in Public Over Relationship Disapproval
In a disturbing incident that has sparked outrage across social media, a young couple in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was publicly assaulted by the boy’s parents over their disapproval of his romantic relationship. The assault took place in broad daylight at Ramgopal Crossing under the jurisdiction of Gujaini Police Station on Friday.
According to police reports, 21-year-old Rohit was sharing a meal of chowmein with his 19-year-old girlfriend when his parents, Shivkaran and Susheela, confronted the couple. The situation quickly turned violent as both parents physically attacked the pair in front of stunned bystanders.
Video footage of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Susheela slapping and pulling the young woman by her hair as she attempted to escape on a two-wheeler with Rohit. Simultaneously, Shivkaran was seen beating his son with a slipper, drawing shock and condemnation from the public.
Local residents and passersby intervened in an effort to de-escalate the situation and separate the parties involved. The confrontation was promptly reported to the police, who arrived at the scene and took all individuals involved to the Gujaini police station.
