New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the Indian cricket team on Sunday via telephone, commending them on their victory in the T20 World Cup.
Officials reported that Modi specifically acknowledged Rohit Sharma for his exceptional leadership and his notable T20 career. He also praised Virat Kohli for his performance in the final match and his overall contributions to Indian cricket.
Both players, Sharma and Kohli, announced their retirement from T20 internationals following the victory.
Modi lauded Hardik Pandya for his crucial final over and Suryakumar Yadav for his remarkable catch on the boundary line, which led to David Miller’s dismissal. Additionally, he commended Jaspreet Bumrah for his significant contributions to the team, according to officials.
The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to coach Rahul Dravid for his invaluable contributions to Indian cricket.
