PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Greet Nation on Seventh Day of Chaitra Navratri
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to the nation on the seventh day of Chaitra Navratri, a day dedicated to the worship of Goddess Maa Durga in her form as ‘Maa Kalratri.’ Expressing his warm wishes to the devotees, PM Modi wrote on his official X handle, “The grace of Maa Jagdamba brings a new dawn of happiness in the lives of her devotees.”
The Prime Minister also shared a prayer song by the legendary Late Lata Mangeshkar, further enriching the spiritual significance of the day. “This prayer of Lata Didi for Devi Maa in Navratri is going to infuse a new energy in everyone…” PM Modi wrote, linking the devotion of Lata Mangeshkar’s classic ‘Aaj Tera Jagraata’ to the ongoing festive spirit of Navratri.
On the seventh day of Navratri, the divine form of Maa Kalratri is worshipped as the destroyer of evil forces. Known for her intense and fearsome nature, Maa Kalratri is believed to bring auspicious results for her devotees. She is revered as the embodiment of time and destruction, symbolizing the end of darkness and the triumph of light and wisdom. With her dark complexion, multiple arms, and weapons, she is both a fearsome and protective force for her followers.
In a parallel gesture, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also greeted the people of the state. CM Yogi prayed for peace and prosperity for the world, saying, “With the blessings of Maa Bhagwati, may the whole world be filled with happiness, peace, prosperity, and positivity. This is my prayer. Jai Maa Kalratri!” His message, shared on his X handle, was accompanied by a picture of the Goddess and a Sanskrit shloka, invoking her blessings for the well-being of all.
The name “Kaalratri” merges “kaal” (meaning time or death) with “ratri” (night or darkness). This name signifies the Goddess’s power to annihilate ignorance and darkness, ushering in a new era of light and wisdom for her devotees. Maa Kalratri’s depiction, with four arms, symbolizes both fear and protection, as she uses her sword and iron club to conquer evil forces while also offering boons and fearlessness to her worshippers.
Across the country, Navratri is being celebrated with fervor and devotion. Thousands of devotees are visiting temples, offering prayers and seeking blessings from the Goddess.
