Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday assessed the situation following the terrorist attack on pilgrims in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in nine fatalities.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reported that the Prime Minister instructed him to continually monitor the situation and to ensure that all possible assistance is provided to the affected families.
“The Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reviewed the situation and directed me to maintain constant vigilance and to ensure comprehensive support for the families affected,” Sinha stated in a post on X.
The Lieutenant Governor also mentioned that security forces have initiated a joint operation to apprehend the terrorists responsible for the attack, promising swift justice.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on a bus in Reasi. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased civilians. Our security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a joint operation to track down the terrorists,” he said.
“All those involved in this heinous act will face punishment soon. The Honorable Prime Minister has also directed that the injured receive the best possible medical care and assistance,” he added.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when terrorists opened fire on a bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack resulted in nine deaths and 33 injuries. A senior police officer reported that the bus, traveling from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra, veered off the road and fell into a gorge near Teryath village in the Poni area following the gunfire at approximately 6:15 PM.
