PM Modi to Inaugurate First 16-Coach Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Between Jayanagar and Patna on April 24
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the much-anticipated 16-coach Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service on April 24, connecting Jayanagar to Patna via Samastipur. The new semi-high-speed train promises enhanced connectivity and reduced travel time for commuters across Bihar.
According to Vinay Srivastava, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Samastipur Division, all logistical and operational arrangements have been completed. The rail service will operate six days a week and is scheduled to complete the Jayanagar–Patna journey in 4 hours and 50 minutes.
Namo Bharat Route and Schedule
The inaugural journey will begin from Jayanagar at 11:40 AM, with scheduled halts at:
- Madhubani at 12:25 PM
- Sakri at 12:55 PM
- Darbhanga at 1:40 PM
- Samastipur at 3:00 PM
- Barauni at 4:15 PM
- Mokama at 5:15 PM
- Patna at 6:30 PM
The Namo Bharat train will feature metro-style coaches equipped with modern amenities, offering a comfortable and efficient travel experience across key districts.
“This is a proud moment for the Samastipur Division. Introduction of this express service reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing regional rail infrastructure,” said DRM Srivastava.
Additional Rail Services Launching on April 24
In a broader boost to Bihar’s railway network, several other new train services are also set to begin on April 24:
Amrit Bharat Express: Saharsa to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai)
A new Amrit Bharat Express will connect Saharsa to Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. The train will depart Saharsa at 11:40 AM, reach Samastipur at 3:00 PM, and pass through Muzaffarpur, Patna, and Danapur, arriving in Mumbai on April 25 at 11:30 PM.
This non-AC express will consist of:
- 11 general coaches
- 8 sleeper coaches
- Coaches for differently-abled passengers
- Luggage and guard vans
Saharsa–Alauli Passenger Service
Meeting a long-standing demand, a passenger train between Alauli and Saharsa will also begin operations. The train will depart Alauli at 11:40 AM and arrive in Saharsa at 2:10 PM.
Bithan–Samastipur Passenger Train
A new local service from Bithan to Samastipur will finally commence, with stops at Hasanpur, Rusera Ghat, Narhan, Angar Ghat, Bhagwanpur, and Desua. Departure from Bithan is scheduled for 11:40 AM, with arrival in Samastipur at 1:50 PM.
This route had been completed over a year ago and had received Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) approval, but services had yet to begin—making this launch a long-awaited development for locals.
