Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to visit Madhya Pradesh on May 31 to take part in the grand closing ceremony of the 10-day-long celebration honoring the 300th birth anniversary of the legendary queen, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, an official statement revealed. In a tribute befitting her legacy, PM Modi will unveil a special postage stamp and a commemorative Rs 300 coin featuring Ahilyabai’s portrait—symbols of her enduring impact on Indian history and culture.
The festivities will also spotlight the National Devi Ahilyabai Award, set to be awarded to a distinguished woman artist for her remarkable contributions to tribal, folk, and traditional arts, further celebrating the spirit of empowerment Ahilyabai championed.
The day’s schedule is packed with significant events, including Modi’s participation in the ‘Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Mahasammelan’ in Bhopal, starting around 11:15 a.m. Despite looming weather concerns of storms and light rainfall due to cyclonic activity, preparations remain robust, with minor adjustments expected.
Among the high-profile inaugurations, PM Modi will lay the foundation for ghat construction projects on the sacred Kshipra River, with a budget of Rs 860 crore. This development is vital for the upcoming Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028 in Ujjain, promising enhanced infrastructure for the spiritual congregation.
In a boost to rural governance, the Prime Minister will initiate the transfer of funds for building 1,271 Atal Gram Sushasan Bhawans—modern administrative centers designed to streamline gram panchayat functions, governance, and record management across the state.
Further catalyzing regional growth, PM Modi will inaugurate the newly operational airports at Datia and Satna, paving the way for increased connectivity, tourism, education, and healthcare services throughout the Vindhya region.
Urban commuters will also rejoice as Modi virtually inaugurates the Indore Metro rail project’s Super Priority Corridor of the Yellow Line. The metro promises to ease traffic congestion, lower pollution, and offer a smoother travel experience for the city’s residents.
In a grand gesture, around 2,00,000 women from 16 districts within a 500-km radius of Bhopal have been invited to the Maha Sammelan, underscoring the celebration’s focus on women’s empowerment, a cause close to Ahilyabai’s heart.
The event will be graced by notable dignitaries including Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, and several cabinet ministers. The stage will also welcome leaders like Jagdish Devda, Prahlad Patel, and key state ministers including Sampatiya Uike and Nirmala Bhuria, while Minister Krishna Gaur will oversee the proceedings.
Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya highlighted, “This magnificent 10-day celebration embodies the timeless legacy of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, reaffirming her remarkable contributions to governance, women’s empowerment, and cultural heritage.” As Madhya Pradesh honors its iconic ruler, the day promises a blend of tradition, progress, and inspiration, bringing together history and modern development under one grand roof.
