PM Narendra Modi to Lay Foundation Stone for India’s Largest Green Hydrogen Hub in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for India’s largest green hydrogen hub in Anakapalle district, Andhra Pradesh, on Friday, November 29. The foundation-laying ceremony will take place at Andhra University Engineering College Grounds in Visakhapatnam, where the Prime Minister will also address a public meeting.

The ambitious green hydrogen hub, being developed by NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), is located in Pudimadaka, Atchutapuram mandal of Anakapalle district. Spanning 1,600 acres, the project aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as a green energy powerhouse, and significantly contribute to India’s position as a global leader in green hydrogen production.

The event will be attended by Governor Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, various state ministers, MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives. This marks Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to the state since the formation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh, which includes the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP leaders from the region are also organizing a roadshow to welcome the Prime Minister.

Preparations for the foundation stone ceremony are in full swing, with local officials including Visakhapatnam Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad, Commissioner of Police Sankarbrata Bagchi, and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner P Sampath Kumar overseeing the arrangements.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at INS Dega on November 29 evening and will travel to the venue via road or air, with final decisions on the route and potential roadshow yet to be confirmed. While the event was initially planned in Anakapalle, logistical challenges and weather concerns due to a forecasted low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal led to the relocation to Visakhapatnam.
