PM Modi’s Three-Nation Tour to Strengthen Ties with Cyprus, Canada & Croatia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant three-nation State Visit from June 15 to 19, covering Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, in a strategic effort to boost India’s global partnerships and reinforce ties with key international allies, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday.
🇨🇾 First Stop: Cyprus (June 15–16)
PM Modi’s diplomatic tour will commence in Cyprus, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Mediterranean island in over 20 years. Invited by President Nikos Christodoulides, Modi will arrive in Nicosia, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Cypriot President and interact with business leaders in the coastal city of Limassol.
According to the MEA, the visit will “reaffirm the shared commitment of both countries to elevate their strategic partnership and deepen India’s engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.”
🇨🇦 Second Stop: Canada (June 16–17)
From Cyprus, the Prime Minister will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, to attend the G7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. This will mark Modi’s sixth consecutive appearance at the high-level forum, where he will join G7 leaders, outreach partners, and heads of international organisations for critical discussions on global priorities.
Key agenda items at the summit include:
- Energy security
- Artificial Intelligence and innovation
- Climate and technology convergence
- Quantum technology challenges
On the sidelines, PM Modi is expected to hold several bilateral meetings, fostering deeper engagement with global counterparts.
🇭🇷 Final Stop: Croatia (June 18–19)
PM Modi’s final destination will be Croatia, where he will make a historic first visit by any Indian Prime Minister. The visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, is viewed as a pivotal step in strengthening Indo-Croatian relations.
In Zagreb, Modi will meet Prime Minister Plenković and hold talks with President Zoran Milanović. The MEA emphasized that the visit will “underscore India’s commitment to expanding its footprint within the European Union and exploring new avenues for collaboration in trade, technology, and cultural exchange.”
