PM Modi Addresses Threats to National Unity on Sardar Patel’s Birth Anniversary
Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need to counter forces attempting to destabilize India and distort its image during his address at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar on Thursday, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Highlighting the significance of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day), Modi warned that both domestic and international elements are striving to undermine India’s progress. He called for the identification of “urban Naxals,” asserting that these groups aim to sow division and weaken societal unity.
The Prime Minister criticized these forces for launching disinformation campaigns targeting India’s armed forces and for inciting separatist sentiments. He accused them of attempting to fracture the country along caste lines and of promoting a narrative that is detrimental to India’s economic interests.
Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to unity, noting that every initiative, from Har Ghar Jal to PM Awas Yojana, embodies the spirit of inclusivity. He announced ongoing efforts towards policies such as ‘one nation, one election’ and ‘one nation, one secular civil code’ to strengthen democracy and enhance national cohesion.
Reflecting on the abrogation of Article 370, Modi celebrated it as a significant step towards integrating Jammu and Kashmir into the constitutional framework of India, marking a milestone in the country’s unity.
Concluding his address, he reiterated India’s emerging role as a global ally amid international tensions, reinforcing the narrative of India as a “Vishwa Bandhu” (friend of the world).
