New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, emphasized that the people have given his government a mandate for stability and continuity for a third consecutive term, based on its performance over the past ten years. He also accused the Congress party of attempting to create a narrative that it has defeated the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.
During his response to a two-day debate on the President’s address to both houses of Parliament, Modi accused the Congress of fostering economic instability in the country.
‘Childish Behaviour’ Modi criticized Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, describing his actions as “childish behaviour” and accusing him of seeking sympathy without acknowledging his own faults.
“This is the first time that the Congress has not crossed 100 seats for three consecutive terms. Instead of accepting defeat, they are displaying arrogance and attempting to build a narrative that they have beaten us,” Modi stated amid strong protests from the opposition.
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of staging a drama in the Lok Sabha to garner sympathy.
“They are aware that they are out on bail for embezzlement of thousands of crores of rupees, have been convicted for defaming OBC people, and have had to apologize for irresponsible comments about the country’s top court,” Modi remarked, indirectly referring to Gandhi.
Accusations of Misleading Parliament Modi claimed that attempts were made to mislead Parliament on the Agnipath scheme and the minimum support price for farm produce.
“Falsehoods were propagated regarding the scheme and MSP. When experienced leaders like Gandhi choose this path of anarchy, it signals trouble for the nation,” he said.
Modi appealed to the Speaker to take action against disruptive behavior in Parliament, suggesting that there was a deeper conspiracy behind it.
He underscored that the people of the country had witnessed the dedication with which his government had served them over the past ten years.
Commitment to Increased Performance “In our third term, we will operate at triple the speed, exert thrice the strength, and achieve three times the results,” Modi pledged.
Modi asserted that the mandate for the BJP’s rivals was to remain in the opposition and continue shouting after exhausting their arguments.
“Understand and accept the people’s mandate honestly. I urge the Congress to accept the mandate and not hide behind false victory celebrations,” Modi said.
Before Modi’s reply, opposition members demanded that MPs from Manipur be allowed to speak, leading to a commotion in the House. The Speaker rebuked them, stating that a member from Manipur had already spoken.
People’s Choice Modi emphasized, “The people of the country have given us this mandate after evaluating us on every criterion. They have seen our dedication to the welfare of the poor and our commitment to public service.”
He acknowledged the pain of those who, despite spreading falsehoods, faced a massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.
Historic Defeat for Congress “This is the first time in Congress’s history that it has not crossed 100 seats for three consecutive terms. The Congress should have accepted defeat and introspected, but instead, it is engaging in headstands. They are trying to convince people that they have defeated us,” he said.
Modi reiterated his government’s stance of zero tolerance towards corruption, highlighting the people’s support for their anti-corruption efforts since 2014.
India’s Global Prestige The Prime Minister stated that India’s global prestige has increased and that the world looks up to the country.
“Our primary objective has always been ‘nation first’. Every step and action has been guided by this principle. We do not believe in appeasement but in achieving universal satisfaction,” Modi said, criticizing the policy of appeasement for harming the country.
He concluded by noting that the people have endorsed the government after seeing its performance over the last ten years, providing an opportunity to serve the 140 crore citizens. He also remarked that prior to 2014, people had lost confidence in the country’s potential, which has now been restored under his administration.
