PM Modi’s Two-Day Tour to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha: A Major Push for Infrastructure and Green Energy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha starting Wednesday. During his tour, PM Modi will launch a series of significant projects aimed at bolstering industrial growth, sustainable development, and regional infrastructure.
Key Announcements in Andhra Pradesh
On January 8, at 5:30 p.m., PM Modi will dedicate, inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone for projects exceeding Rs 2 lakh crore in Visakhapatnam, a move that will enhance the region’s economic infrastructure.
In a pioneering step towards green energy, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for the NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub Project at Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam. The project, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, will have an investment of nearly Rs 1,85,000 crore. This will include the establishment of 20 GW of renewable energy capacity and the production of 1,500 tonnes per day (TPD) of green hydrogen, alongside derivatives like Green Methanol, Green Urea, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The facility is poised to be one of India’s largest integrated green hydrogen production sites and aims to meet the growing global demand for green energy.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for several key railway and road projects in Andhra Pradesh, valued at over Rs 19,500 crore. Notable among these is the South Coast Railway Headquarters in Visakhapatnam, expected to improve connectivity and regional socio-economic development.
Boosting Industrial Growth and Healthcare
PM Modi’s visit will also focus on healthcare and industrial growth. He will lay the foundation for the Bulk Drug Park at Nakkapalli in the Anakapalli district, a significant step to enhance India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity. This park will create thousands of jobs and stimulate economic growth due to its strategic location near key industrial corridors.
Another notable development is the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) in the Tirupati district. This flagship project under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme will be a greenfield industrial smart city, attracting investments worth nearly Rs 10,500 crore and generating approximately 100,000 jobs.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha
On January 9, PM Modi will inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This flagship event serves as a crucial platform for engaging with the Indian diaspora and recognizing their contributions to the country. The convention, which will run from January 8 to 10, 2025, is themed “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). Over 50 countries are represented by the Indian diaspora, many of whom have registered for the event.
In a special initiative, PM Modi will flag off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a tourist train designed for the Indian diaspora. This train will travel to key cultural and religious destinations across India for three weeks under the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana.
