Tollywood actor Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas landed in legal trouble after an altercation with a traffic constable in Hyderabad sparked a police complaint and led to his vehicle being seized. The incident occurred on Tuesday near Journalists Colony in the upscale Jubilee Hills area, where the actor resides.
According to the police, the actor was driving against the designated route and was flagged down by constable Naresh, who was on duty at the Journalists Colony crossroads. When instructed to take a U-turn as per traffic regulations, the actor allegedly attempted to bypass the constable, leading to a heated exchange.
Despite being confronted, Srinivas reportedly insisted on proceeding in the wrong direction before eventually complying. A video of the confrontation quickly circulated on social media, drawing public attention and criticism.
In response, Jubilee Hills Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for traffic violation and misconduct towards a public servant. The police also seized the actor’s vehicle as part of the investigation.
Srinivas was summoned to the Jubilee Hills Police Station on Thursday, where he appeared for questioning. Authorities confirmed that he has been issued a notice and instructed to attend court hearings when required.
Traffic Inspector A. Praveen Kumar stated, “No one is above the law. The constable was simply performing his duty. Violations of traffic rules, especially when accompanied by disrespect toward law enforcement, will not be tolerated.”
Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas made his cinematic debut with the 2014 film Alludu Seenu, starring opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and has since gained popularity in Telugu cinema. As the legal process unfolds, the actor has yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident.
