Pooja Hegde Delighted by Overwhelming Response to ‘Kanimaa’ Song from Upcoming Film Retro
Actress Pooja Hegde is basking in the success of her latest song “Kanimaa” from the upcoming romantic action film Retro. With the lyrical video garnering over 40 million views on YouTube, the track has become a viral sensation across social media platforms, particularly for its catchy hook step.
Sharing her excitement, Pooja said, “I am filled with joy upon seeing all the love and appreciation coming in for the ‘Kanimaa’ song and the hookstep. My social media is flooded with people recreating it and enjoying the vibe of the track.”

Kanimaa has become especially popular for its retro wedding theme, blending nostalgic beats with contemporary choreography. The film Retro, written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, stars Suriya alongside Pooja Hegde. The movie has been shot across exotic locations including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai, and promises to deliver a visually rich cinematic experience.
In addition to Retro, Pooja Hegde is also working on an upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan. She will be sharing screen space with Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur. The trio is expected to head to the UK in May for a two-month long shooting schedule.
A source close to the production revealed, “Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde will be flying to the UK in May for an extensive shoot of their film. It’s a long schedule for their comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.”
Interestingly, the film’s title is inspired by the popular song “Ishq Sona Hai” from the 1999 Salman Khan–Karisma Kapoor starrer Biwi No.1, also directed by David Dhawan.
With multiple projects in the pipeline and her song riding high on the charts, Pooja Hegde continues to charm audiences both on and off the screen.
