Prakash Raj Responds to Pawan Kalyan’s Remarks on Hindi Language Imposition
Actor and politician Prakash Raj has responded to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan’s recent remarks regarding the Hindi language. This response comes amid growing political debates in Tamil Nadu over accusations that the central government is attempting to impose Hindi on non-Hindi-speaking states.
Prakash Raj took to the social media platform X, where he frequently uses the hashtag #justasking to challenge political statements, to share his thoughts. He wrote, “Saying ‘Don’t impose your Hindi on us’ is not the same as hating another language. It is about protecting our mother tongue and our cultural identity with pride. Can someone please explain this to Pawan Kalyan?” His tweet quickly gained traction and went viral on social media.
Prakash Raj’s comments were a direct response to Pawan Kalyan’s speech during the Jana Sena Party’s foundation day celebrations. In his speech, Pawan Kalyan had addressed the ongoing controversy over the imposition of Hindi, particularly in Tamil Nadu. He remarked, “Whenever we speak, people claim that Hindi is being forced on South India. But aren’t all Indian languages equally important? If Tamil Nadu is against Hindi, then why dub Tamil films into Hindi? They want money from Hindi-speaking states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, they want workers from Bihar, but at the same time, they say they hate Hindi. Is this fair? This mindset needs to change—there is no need to hate any language.”
The exchange highlights the continuing political and cultural tension surrounding the use of Hindi in non-Hindi-speaking regions of India, with both actors using their platforms to voice their opinions on the matter.
