New Delhi: Following the announcement of Lok Sabha election results, a gathering of newly elected Members of Parliament convened on Friday at Parliament, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in attendance.
The meeting took place at the Samvidhan Sadan within the Parliament premises, where Prime Minister Modi received a warm welcome with chants of ‘Modi Modi’. Upon his arrival, he respectfully paid homage to the Constitution of India.
JD(S) MP-elect HD Kumaraswamy endorsed the proposal to appoint Narendra Modi as the Leader of the NDA Parliamentary Party.
TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu remarked, “We extend congratulations to all for our remarkable victory. During the election campaign, I witnessed Prime Minister Modi tirelessly campaigning day and night for three months, demonstrating unwavering dedication. His efforts were instrumental in our success in Andhra Pradesh…”
With BJP falling short of the majority required to independently form a government, it now relies on alliances with TDP and JD(U).
Addressing the gathering, BJP MP Rajnath Singh stated, “I extend my congratulations to all newly elected MPs… Today, we gather to elect the leader of the NDA. I firmly believe that PM Narendra Modi is the most suitable candidate for this position…”
Speaking at the meeting, BJP national president JP Nadda noted, “The NDA secured a majority in the Lok Sabha Elections and successfully formed governments in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, we formed the government in Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term, and in Sikkim, the NDA also secured victory…”
“Ten years ago, India was viewed with indifference, but under PM Modi’s leadership, it has transformed into an aspirational nation with a vision for development,” Nadda emphasized.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received greetings from TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar, among other leaders present at the meeting. Ajit Pawar of the NCP and Chirag Paswan of the LJP were also in attendance.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD-S leader HD Kumaraswamy affirmed his party’s support for PM Modi and the NDA, emphasizing the need for a stable government. “We stand united with PM Modi and the NDA. The entire country has high expectations from PM Modi regarding development and resolving numerous issues,” Kumaraswamy stated.
On Wednesday, leaders of NDA parties convened and unanimously elected PM Narendra Modi as their leader. PM Modi outlined the NDA’s commitment to advancing India’s development.
Sources suggest that Narendra Modi is likely to be sworn in as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term on June 9, though the date of the oath-taking ceremony is yet to be officially confirmed.
According to the Election Commission of India, BJP secured 240 seats, and along with its allies, it holds a total of 293 seats in the new parliament. TDP and JD(U), with 16 and 12 seats respectively, have pledged their support to the NDA.
The INDIA bloc holds 234 seats in the new parliament, with the Congress securing 99 seats.
