New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Criticizes Centre Over NEET-UG Exam Irregularities
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday criticized the central government regarding the NEET-UG medical entrance examination controversy, insisting that the government must take “serious steps” to address the alleged irregularities.
In response to allegations of inflated marks in the NEET-UG exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Saturday that the education ministry has established a four-member panel to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates.
In a post on X, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her concerns, stating, “Lakhs of children dedicate significant time and effort to preparing for exams like NEET, often sacrificing precious moments of their lives. Families place immense trust and support in these endeavors. However, year after year, we witness incidents of paper leaks and result irregularities.”
She questioned the accountability of the agencies conducting these exams and urged the government to abandon its negligent approach and prioritize the integrity of the examination system. “We cannot allow the dreams of our young aspirants to be shattered. This systemic injustice towards their hard work must end,” she asserted.
The NTA has denied any irregularities, attributing the higher scores to changes in NCERT textbooks and grace marks for time lost at examination centers.
The issue has escalated politically, with several parties questioning the integrity and fairness of the examination process. The Congress party has called for a high-level investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court into the alleged irregularities in the NEET entrance exam, accusing the BJP of deceiving young candidates and jeopardizing their futures.
