AAP Welcomes Supreme Court Bail Decision for Arvind Kejriwal, Hints at Poll Campaign in Haryana
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) celebrated a significant legal victory on Friday as the Supreme Court granted bail to the party’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The court’s decision has stirred a wave of euphoria within the party, prompting discussions about Kejriwal’s potential role in the upcoming Haryana elections.
Raghav Chadha, Rajya Sabha MP and prominent AAP leader, expressed immense satisfaction with the court’s ruling, emphasizing the party’s steadfast belief that “Truth can be troubled but not defeated.” Chadha conveyed the party’s gratitude to the Supreme Court, describing Kejriwal as a symbol of honest politics and asserting that his release will bolster the party’s efforts.
Addressing media inquiries, Chadha hinted at Kejriwal’s active participation in the Haryana elections. “AAP has consistently fought elections under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership. With his release, he will undoubtedly lead our campaign in Haryana,” Chadha stated.
When asked about the conditions attached to Kejriwal’s bail, Chadha indicated that the party would strategize further after reviewing the Supreme Court’s final order.
In a show of solidarity, other AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Atishi, praised the court’s decision as a triumph over “lies and conspiracies.” Sisodia, a former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, and Atishi, an MLA, echoed sentiments of relief and enthusiasm, welcoming Kejriwal’s return to public life.
Kejriwal’s arrest history began on March 21, 2024, when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained him in relation to a money laundering investigation connected to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. Subsequently, on June 26, 2024, he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while still in ED custody.
As the party braces for Kejriwal’s reintegration and upcoming electoral challenges, AAP leaders and supporters are buoyed by the prospect of renewed leadership and campaign momentum.
