Rahul Gandhi Slams Nitish Kumar Government Over Nawada Incident
New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a fierce critique of the Nitish Kumar government following the burning of houses in a Dalit colony in Nawada district. He expressed outrage over the incident, stating that “even Dalit’s screams could not awaken the Bihar government from its deep slumber.”
In a post on the social media platform X, Gandhi described the destruction of over 80 families’ homes as a stark representation of injustice against the Bahujans in Bihar. He emphasized that the cries of the affected Dalit families and the terror unleashed by gunfire failed to elicit any response from a government he accused of being “asleep.”
Gandhi further alleged that the perpetrators of such violence find “shelter” under the leadership of the BJP and its NDA allies, who allegedly intimidate and suppress marginalized communities to prevent them from demanding their social and constitutional rights. He characterized the Prime Minister’s silence as a “seal of approval” on this troubling situation and called for strict action against those responsible for the attacks, demanding justice and rehabilitation for the victims.
AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed her colleague’s sentiments, condemning the incident as “extremely horrifying.” She criticized the Nitish government for the evident collapse of law and order in the state. In her post on X, she stated, “Firing dozens of rounds, creating terror, and rendering people homeless shows that the law and order situation in the state has completely collapsed.” She reiterated the need for strict action against the culprits and proper rehabilitation for all victims affected by the violence.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was confirmed by Sunil Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar-2 in Nawada district, who stated that it stemmed from a property dispute. As calls for accountability grow, the Congress party continues to demand justice for the impacted communities in Bihar.
