Rahul Gandhi Promises to Make Wayanad a Premier Global Tourism Destination
On the final day of campaigning for the Wayanad bypoll, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, pledged to help transform Wayanad into one of the world’s leading tourism destinations. Speaking at a rally and roadshow in Sultan Bathery, Rahul Gandhi assured the people of Wayanad that he would work alongside Priyanka to elevate the region’s tourism potential.
Addressing a large crowd, Rahul Gandhi, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said, “As a challenge, I will help her (Priyanka Gandhi) to make Wayanad the best tourism destination in the world.” The rally, which included a roadshow from Assumption Junction to Chungam Junction in Sultan Bathery, saw a massive turnout of supporters, with people lining both sides of the road to cheer the Congress leaders.
Rahul also reflected on his personal connection with the people of Wayanad, sharing how the region had taught him the power of love in politics. “The people of Wayanad taught me that the word love has a great place in politics,” he remarked. He emphasized that in the face of rising hatred and anger in national discourse, love and affection remain the strongest tools to unite and heal divisions.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting the bypoll as the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate, was also present at the rally and expressed her commitment to serve the people of Wayanad.
The Wayanad by-election, scheduled for November 13, was triggered after Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat following his victory in Raebareli in the recent parliamentary elections. The bypoll is seen as a significant event, with both Congress and the UDF focusing their efforts on securing the constituency, which has been a stronghold for the party.
With his promise to boost tourism and his heartfelt message of love and unity, Rahul Gandhi aimed to solidify Congress’s position in the region and offer a vision for its future development.
