Rajendra Prasad Apologizes for Controversial Remarks About David Warner at ‘Robinhood’ Event
The highly anticipated film Robinhood, starring Nithiin and directed by Venky Kudumula, is all set for its release on March 28. Ahead of its release, the makers have been actively promoting the film, including a pre-release event in Hyderabad on Sunday. The event saw a special appearance from former Australian cricketer David Warner, who attended as a guest.
However, the event took an unexpected turn when senior actor Rajendra Prasad made controversial remarks about Warner that quickly went viral on social media, sparking criticism from netizens.
In the video, Rajendra Prasad made playful comments about Warner, which some viewers interpreted as disrespectful. The backlash was swift, with many expressing their displeasure online.
Following the controversy, Rajendra Prasad addressed the issue and issued an apology. He clarified that his comments were not intended to offend anyone and were made in a light-hearted, playful manner. The actor explained that prior to the event, he and Warner had been joking around, and his remarks were part of that fun exchange.
“Namaste to all my beloved Telugu audience. Recently, at the Robinhood pre-release event, I unintentionally made a comment about David Warner. It was not intentional. You all know me well. Before the event, we were all spending time together and having fun. I joked with Nithiin and Warner, calling them both like my children.
At one point, I playfully told Warner, ‘You’re getting into acting now, right? I’ll teach you a lesson.’ In response, Warner jokingly said, ‘You should try cricket; I’ll teach you a lesson too.’ We had a lot of fun before attending the event. Regardless of what happened, I love Warner, and I love his cricket. Likewise, Warner loves our films and acting.
To my understanding, we have become very close friends. However, if my comments have hurt anyone’s feelings, I sincerely apologize. It was not intentional. Nevertheless, I am sorry, and I will ensure that such incidents do not happen again,” said Rajendra Prasad in his apology.
While the matter seems to have been cleared up by Rajendra Prasad’s apology, it serves as a reminder of how quickly things can escalate in today’s social media-driven world, where even playful remarks can be misunderstood.
