Hyderabad: ACB Arrests Ranga Reddy District Additional Collector and Senior Assistant for Bribery
On August 13, Tuesday, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested MV Bhoopal Reddy, Additional Collector of Ranga Reddy district, and Senior Assistant Y Madan Mohan Reddy for their involvement in a bribery case. The arrest followed the acceptance of an ₹8 lakh bribe intended to alter records on the Dharani portal.
The complaint was lodged by Jakkidi Muthyam Reddy, a resident of Gurramguda Village in Balapur Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. According to the ACB, Madan Mohan Reddy received the bribe in his vehicle to expedite the processing of Reddy’s request to remove 14 guntas of land from the prohibited list on the Dharani website.
The ACB recovered the ₹8 lakh bribe from Madan Mohan Reddy’s car, and both his fingers tested positive in the Phenolphthalein test, a standard method for detecting bribery. During interrogation, Reddy admitted that the bribe was solicited on behalf of Bhoopal Reddy, who had instructed him to meet near Peddamberpet ORR to deliver the money.
At the designated location, Bhoopal Reddy was seen arriving in his official vehicle, where Madan Mohan Reddy handed over the bribe amount. The cash was subsequently recovered from Bhoopal Reddy’s car, and the amount tested positive in the Phenolphthalein test.
The ACB has charged both officials with abuse of power and bribery. They will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court in Hyderabad. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
