Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Announces Vision for a ‘Future City’ to Make Hyderabad Globally Competitive
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has unveiled ambitious plans to build a “Future City” as the fourth major city in Hyderabad, positioning it to compete globally with other major cities. Speaking at the CII National Council meeting at the CII Green Business Center, Reddy emphasized his goal of transforming Hyderabad into a pollution-free, sustainable, and disaster-resilient metropolis while promoting industrial growth and job creation.
Vision for a Pollution-Free and Disaster-Resilient Hyderabad
One of the key aspects of the Chief Minister’s vision is to make Hyderabad a “flood-free city” by preparing the city to tackle natural disasters effectively. Reddy shared his plans for significant infrastructural changes, including the construction of radial roads that will connect the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR). This development will facilitate smoother transportation while also promoting industrial growth in the area between ORR and RRR, which is set to become a manufacturing hub for Telangana.
The Chief Minister’s initiative is also focused on skill development and job creation, aiming to boost the state’s economy while creating more opportunities for the workforce. “The government’s goal is to lay the groundwork for a ‘Rising Telangana,’” Reddy noted, underscoring the importance of a strategic approach to urban development.
Overcoming Geographical Challenges with Dry Ports
Reddy also addressed Telangana’s lack of a coastal region, explaining the government’s plan to overcome this limitation by establishing a dry port. This infrastructure development will significantly improve the state’s logistics and trade capabilities, providing a crucial link for industries seeking to expand their operations. Reddy expressed optimism that the establishment of the dry port would attract investments and bring substantial growth to the region.
Advancing Sustainable Transportation
To tackle pollution, the Chief Minister announced a major initiative to introduce 3,200 electric buses into the state’s transport system. This move is part of Telangana’s commitment to cleaner, sustainable transportation options that will help reduce the environmental impact of traditional vehicles. Reddy also revealed that the government would waive registration and road tax for electric vehicles to further encourage the adoption of eco-friendly transport options.
A Future-Focused Telangana
Reddy’s vision for Telangana is centered on building a state that is not only economically prosperous but also sustainable and technologically advanced. The proposed “Future City” and other transformative initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to creating a more liveable and competitive city, with a focus on innovation, industrial growth, and environmental responsibility.
With these ambitious plans in place, Telangana is set to evolve into a modern, globally competitive state that can serve as a model for urban development in India. The Chief Minister’s address at the CII meeting marks the beginning of what promises to be a transformative journey for the state, with the aim of fostering a future that is both sustainable and economically vibrant.
