In a significant push towards educational reform and social empowerment, the Telangana government has sanctioned ₹4,000 crore for the construction of 20 Young India Integrated Residential Schools. These institutions aim to deliver international-standard, inclusive education to underprivileged communities across the state.
The School Education Department issued the official Government Order following a proposal by the Telangana Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (TEWIDC). Each school will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore, with plans to establish them in 20 different Assembly constituencies, including three in Rangareddy district, and two each in Yadadri Bhongir and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
A Vision Backed by Scale and Sustainability
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and other cabinet members had laid the foundation stones for 28 such schools last October, reinforcing the state’s commitment to educational excellence. These schools will be constructed over 25 acres of land each, designed to foster both academic and extracurricular excellence.
The campuses are envisioned as ‘net-zero’ institutions, powered by solar and wind energy, and aligned with climate-resilient architecture. They will also feature rainwater harvesting systems, smart classrooms, digital libraries, computer labs, and world-class sports facilities—including cricket, football, basketball, and tennis courts.
Empowering Youth Through Inclusion
Each English-medium school will cater to students from Class IV to Class XII, with a capacity of 2,560 students and 120 teaching staff per campus. Importantly, these schools are designed to transcend barriers of caste, class, and religion, offering an inclusive learning environment that is also accessible to differently abled students.
Deputy CM Vikramarka urged parents to take full advantage of these institutions, calling them “game-changers in rural and urban education.” He emphasized that the schools would serve as model institutions for the nation, thanks to their innovative design and inclusive vision.
A Broader Mission for Statewide Impact
The current sanction is part of a broader plan announced earlier by the government, which aims to build one integrated residential school in each of the state’s 119 Assembly constituencies. In March 2025, the state had given administrative clearance for ₹11,500 crore to support this initiative.
To ensure seamless execution, a high-level committee of senior officials from multiple departments has been constituted to oversee every phase—from planning and construction to operational rollout.
With this bold educational initiative, Telangana is not just building schools—it is laying the foundation for an equitable and empowered generation.
