Ram Gopal Varma Questioned by Police Over Morphed Images, Satirical Post Sparks Controversy
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma appeared before the police on Friday for questioning in connection with a case involving the alleged posting of morphed images of political figures, including Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh, on social media with inappropriate captions. The images, which reportedly offended the individuals involved, led to an investigation.
Following his interrogation, Varma made a satirical post on the social media platform ‘X,’ which quickly went viral. In the post, he wrote, “I love Ongole… And I love Ongole Police even more, three cheers.” This statement sparked widespread debate, with many questioning whether Varma was genuinely praising the police or using sarcasm to imply that, despite being questioned for hours, the authorities had not taken any substantial action against him.
During the interrogation, police asked Varma to provide his mobile phone for further investigation. Varma stated that the device was with his nephew, who had already left for Hyderabad. However, the police tracked the phone’s location and found it at the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) district office. When officers went to the location to retrieve the phone, former MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, who was present at the office, confronted them. He engaged in a heated exchange, questioning why Varma’s phone was at the YSRCP office.
The situation grew tense, and with no resolution reached, the police eventually left without retrieving the phone. This incident has fueled further speculation and controversy regarding the nature of the case and Varma’s actions. As the investigation continues, the matter remains a topic of public discussion.
