Rishabh Pant Bids Farewell to Delhi Capitals, Thanks Fans for Unforgettable Journey
India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant bid an emotional farewell to his former IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals, on November 26, expressing gratitude for the amazing memories over the years. Pant, who debuted in the IPL with Delhi in 2016, played for the franchise for eight seasons, becoming one of their most prominent players before his absence in the 2023 edition due to injuries sustained in a car crash.
In his IPL career with Delhi, Pant accumulated 3,284 runs in 111 matches, including a century and 18 half-centuries. He was appointed the captain of the team in 2021, taking the franchise through some thrilling moments during his leadership.
However, Pant’s journey with Delhi came to an end when he was not retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL auction. The star batter went on to shatter records by being bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a staggering Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. Despite Delhi Capitals exercising their Right to Match (RTM) card, LSG outbid them, securing Pant’s services for the upcoming seasons.
In a heartfelt farewell note on social media, Pant reflected on his journey with Delhi Capitals, acknowledging the invaluable experiences both on and off the field. “Goodbyes are never easy. The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined,” he wrote.
Pant also expressed his deep gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, especially during challenging times. “What made this journey all worthwhile is you, the fans… You’ve embraced me, cheered for me, and stood by me in one of the toughest phases of my life. As I move on, I carry your love and support in my heart. I’ll look forward to entertaining you whenever I take the field. Thank you for being my family and making this journey so special,” he added.
Pant’s departure marks the end of an era for Delhi Capitals, and while he embarks on a new chapter with Lucknow, his bond with the fans and memories created in Delhi will forever remain cherished.
