Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah Achieve Rare T20 Milestones in MI’s Victory Over SRH
Indian cricket stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah etched their names into the record books with remarkable individual milestones during Mumbai Indians’ emphatic seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Uppal Stadium on Wednesday. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 encounter not only showcased MI’s dominance but also celebrated two significant personal achievements for the veteran cricketers.
Opening batsman Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ successful chase, scoring a fluent 70 off 46 deliveries. With this knock, Rohit surpassed the 12,000-run mark in T20 cricket, becoming only the second Indian — after Virat Kohli — to achieve this landmark. Globally, he is now the eighth player to breach the 12,000-run barrier in the shortest format of the game. His career T20 tally now stands at an impressive 12,056 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah, known for his consistency and lethal pace, also reached a rare milestone during the match. By dismissing SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen, Bumrah completed 300 wickets in T20 cricket, becoming the fastest Indian to do so — achieving the feat in just 237 innings. The milestone also brought him level with former MI legend Lasith Malinga for the most wickets (170) taken for the franchise in IPL history.
The match itself saw Mumbai Indians dominate both with the ball and the bat. After restricting Sunrisers Hyderabad to a modest total, MI chased down the target with ease, thanks to Rohit’s composed innings and key contributions from the middle order.
With the IPL season intensifying, both Sharma’s and Bumrah’s milestones serve as a testament to their enduring excellence and invaluable contributions to the Mumbai Indians setup.
