Rohit Sharma Blessed with a Baby Boy; Possible Return for Perth Test Against Australia
India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, has welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, who gave birth at a Mumbai hospital on Friday night. This joyous occasion may affect his availability for the upcoming first Test against Australia, which begins on November 22 in Perth.
Rohit had stayed back in India as Ritika was expecting their second child, while the Indian squad had already traveled to Australia for the series. The couple’s first child, a daughter named Samaira, was born in 2018.
Will Rohit Play in the Perth Test?
With less than a week to go for the Test, it remains uncertain whether Rohit will make the journey to Australia in time to take part. Even if he arrives on schedule, there are concerns about his match readiness, given the short preparation window. Despite this, head coach Gautam Gambhir has expressed optimism, suggesting that there is still a possibility of the captain featuring in the match.
The Indian team is in need of a stable top order, and Rohit’s presence would be a significant boost, especially considering the brittle form of the opening pair. While Rohit has not been in peak form recently, his experience and track record make him a stronger option than Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has struggled against bounce and seam movement. KL Rahul, though dealing with a minor elbow injury, is expected to recover in time, but his inconsistency has raised concerns as well.
Currently, with both Easwaran and Rahul failing to secure a spot as Yashasvi Jaiswal’s partner at the top, Rohit’s potential return could provide much-needed stability for India’s batting lineup heading into the crucial Test series.
