Arvind Kejriwal’s Search for a New Residence Intensifies Following Resignation as Delhi Chief Minister
New Delhi: The search for a new residence for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is currently underway. This development comes in the wake of his resignation from the Chief Minister position on September 17, after being released on bail. The process has gained urgency following Atishi’s assumption of the role of Chief Minister.
It is widely speculated that Kejriwal will vacate the official Chief Minister’s residence shortly after the Shraadh (Pitru Paksha) period, coinciding with the onset of Navratri. While the exact date for his move remains unconfirmed, there are indications that he plans to transition to a new home during this festive period.
The search for Kejriwal’s new residence is focused within his New Delhi Assembly constituency. In a remarkable show of solidarity, numerous party MLAs, councillors, and citizens from various backgrounds have offered their homes for his use, reflecting the widespread support he enjoys.
Kejriwal has lived at the official residence at 6 Flag Staff Road in the Civil Lines area since 2015, following his victory in the Assembly elections. Prior to that, he resided at Tilak Lane after becoming Delhi’s Chief Minister in 2013. With Atishi now at the helm, the question of where Kejriwal will reside next remains open.
There is uncertainty regarding whether the Central government will provide a new official residence for him. Speculation suggests he may consider a location within the Lutyens’ Zone, but no official confirmation has been made.
Kejriwal lives with his wife, children, and elderly parents and is searching for a home that accommodates his family comfortably. In a recent statement, he expressed his intent to return as Chief Minister only after winning the upcoming Assembly elections, which are scheduled for February, although AAP is advocating for an earlier poll date.
As the hunt for a new home continues, Kejriwal’s political future remains a topic of considerable interest, particularly among his supporters who eagerly await his return to leadership in Delhi.
