Y.S. Sharmila Slams Obscene Remarks Against Y.S. Bharathi, Demands Swift Action
Andhra Pradesh Congress President Y.S. Sharmila issued a strong condemnation of objectionable comments made against Y.S. Bharathi Reddy, wife of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The remarks, reportedly made by I-TDP activist Chebrolu Kiran on social media, have sparked widespread outrage.
Speaking to the media, Sharmila called the statements “deeply distressing” and equated such behavior to “acts of terrorism.” She went a step further, declaring, “There would be nothing wrong if such psycho individuals were hanged in public.”
Demanding immediate action, Sharmila urged the coalition government to respond appropriately to this incident. “As a fellow woman, I demand that strict measures be taken. These acts are despicable and cannot be tolerated by any civil society,” she said.
Sharmila also held both the YSR Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) responsible for what she described as a culture of personal defamation in Andhra Pradesh. She accused both parties of fostering an online ecosystem that thrives on abuse and vulgar content.
“These parties have created an army of trolls—Kalaykeyas—who now target families, including innocent children, with obscene and baseless allegations,” she stated. “They misuse power and forget even the most basic decency in public discourse.”
She strongly criticized the use of YouTube channels and social media platforms that promote such content for the sake of viewership. “These channels must be held accountable too. Promoting slander for ratings is as damaging as making the remarks,” she said.
Calling for a united front, Sharmila appealed to all political parties to take a stand against such behavior and work collectively to restore dignity and respect in public life.
