Folk singer and performer Mangli has addressed the controversy surrounding her recent birthday celebration at Tripura Resort in Chevella, following a police raid that led to a case being filed against her and others for conducting the event without prior permission. The midnight gathering has since drawn significant public and media attention.
In a video statement released on social media, Mangli expressed surprise over the developments and asserted that there was no deliberate violation of rules on her part. She clarified that the celebration was a private family affair, organized with good intentions and without any awareness of the permissions required.
“I planned this birthday celebration to spend quality time with my family and close friends,” Mangli explained. “The event was arranged according to my parents’ wishes. Yes, we had a sound system and alcohol, but I genuinely did not know that permission was needed for these arrangements. If I had been informed, I would have certainly secured the necessary approvals.” Mangli emphasized that the party was not a premeditated public event but rather a spontaneous, informal gathering.
“No Drugs, No Malice,” Says Mangli
Responding to speculation about the presence of illegal substances at the event, Mangli firmly stated that no narcotics were involved.
“Only locally procured liquor was present. No drugs were found at the location, and the individual who tested positive for marijuana had consumed it earlier, elsewhere. Even the police confirmed this. I am cooperating fully with the investigation,” she said. She also posed a rhetorical question to her critics, asking, “Would I knowingly do such things in the presence of my own parents? I want to be a role model, not someone who sets a bad example.”
Appeal to the Media
Mangli concluded her statement with a direct appeal to the media:
“To my friends in the press, I humbly request—please don’t spread baseless accusations without proper evidence.” As the police investigation continues, Mangli’s candid video response seeks to dispel rumors and refocus the narrative on facts rather than speculation.
