DRI Seizes Gold Worth Rs 2.94 Crore in Hyderabad Smuggling Operation
Hyderabad In a significant anti-smuggling operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized gold valued at Rs 2.94 crore late Wednesday night, September 11, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The operation was executed based on specific intelligence regarding the transportation of foreign-origin gold from Kolkata to Hyderabad.
The operation led to the discovery of nearly four kilograms of gold concealed in two meticulously crafted compartments within the vehicle. One compartment was hidden beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side, while the other was embedded in the trunk’s frame at the rear of the car.
The seized gold amounted to 3,982.070 grams, with a total value of Rs 2,94,55,372. Alongside the gold, the vehicle used for smuggling was also confiscated. Two individuals traveling in the car were arrested under the Customs Act of 1962.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to further unravel the details of this smuggling operation.
