IPL 2025: Harsh Dubey Replaces Injured Smaran Ravichandran in Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad
In a mid-season roster change, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have roped in Harsh Dubey as an injury replacement for Smaran Ravichandran, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to injury. The franchise confirmed the update ahead of their crucial clash against Delhi Capitals at home.
Dubey, a left-arm spin all-rounder from Vidarbha, has been signed for Rs 30 lakh, the same price Smaran was acquired for earlier in the season. A standout performer in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, Dubey was named Player of the Tournament for his impressive all-round contributions — 69 wickets and 476 runs — that were pivotal in Vidarbha’s title win.
The 24-year-old has featured in 16 T20s, 20 List A, and 18 First-Class matches, tallying 127 wickets and 941 runs across formats. His consistent domestic performances saw him trial with multiple franchises, including Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, before earning his IPL debut opportunity.
Interestingly, the player Dubey is replacing — Smaran Ravichandran — had himself joined SRH only last month as a replacement for injured leg-spinner Adam Zampa. A promising top-order batter from Karnataka, Smaran had turned heads during the 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 433 runs in seven innings at an average of 72.16, including a century in the final that helped Karnataka clinch the title.
He also boasts a stellar first-class record with over 500 runs from seven matches at an average of 64.50, including a memorable double century against Punjab.
SRH’s Struggles and Final Push
Sunrisers Hyderabad find themselves on the brink of elimination with only three wins from 11 matches this season. With just a few league games remaining, the team will be hoping Dubey can provide a much-needed boost, especially in the spin department, as they look to salvage their campaign.
SRH will next face Delhi Capitals on Monday evening at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, hoping to regain momentum and keep their playoff hopes alive.
