Shocking Assault on Lecturer by Student at Raghu Engineering College Sparks Outrage

A deeply troubling incident that has shaken the foundational values of respect and discipline in educational institutions has come to light in Andhra Pradesh. A second-year engineering student at Raghu Engineering College, situated near Dakamarri on the Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram National Highway, allegedly physically assaulted a lecturer with a slipper after her mobile phone was confiscated.

The altercation, which was captured on video by a fellow student and has since gone viral on social media, has drawn widespread condemnation from the public and educational community alike.

According to reports, the student was found using her mobile phone either in the classroom or elsewhere on the campus, which is a violation of college regulations. As per standard protocol, the lecturer confiscated the device. This action appeared to provoke a strong reaction from the student, who began verbally abusing the faculty member using offensive and inappropriate language.

The situation quickly escalated when the student removed her slipper and struck the lecturer in full view of her peers. Shocked by the sudden act of aggression, several students attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation. Despite their efforts, the student continued to display aggressive behavior.

The video recording of the incident, which shows the assault taking place, has sparked a broader discussion on student conduct, the growing dependency on mobile devices, and the deteriorating respect for authority within academic environments.

Authorities at Raghu Engineering College have yet to issue an official statement regarding the disciplinary action that may be taken. Meanwhile, the college management is reportedly reviewing the incident and considering appropriate steps in accordance with institutional policies and legal provisions.

Educational experts and concerned citizens have called for strict action, emphasizing the need to uphold decorum and mutual respect in teacher-student relationships. Many have expressed concern that such incidents, if left unchecked, could set a dangerous precedent.

The incident underscores the urgent need for dialogue and awareness around campus discipline, digital etiquette, and the boundaries of acceptable behavior in academic institutions.
