Supreme Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Actor Mohan Babu in Attempted Murder Case

Veteran actor Mohan Babu has been granted significant relief by the Supreme Court after being charged with attempted murder in connection with an alleged attack on a journalist. The actor had initially approached the Telangana High Court seeking anticipatory bail, but his plea was rejected. He then appealed the high court’s decision in the Supreme Court, which, after hearing his petition, granted him anticipatory bail.

The incident that led to the charges took place on December 10, 2024, at Mohan Babu’s residence in Jalpalli, Hyderabad. The actor allegedly attacked the journalist with a microphone, prompting the victim to file a complaint with the Pahadishareef police, which resulted in the registration of a case against him.

In his defense during the Supreme Court proceedings, Mohan Babu stated that he did not intentionally attack the journalist. He clarified that the altercation was linked to ongoing family disputes, which had already led to multiple complaints filed by both parties. Additionally, he expressed his willingness to offer compensation to the affected journalist in an effort to resolve the matter amicably.

Mohan Babu’s family has been embroiled in a series of conflicts in recent times. Notably, he and his younger son, Manchu Manoj, have been at odds, with both filing complaints against each other. The tensions reached a peak during the Sankranti festival at Mohan Babu University in Tirupati, where bouncers allegedly clashed over access to the campus. With police intervention, Manoj was eventually allowed to enter the campus and pay his respects at the graves of his grandparents before leaving.

As the legal proceedings continue, the Supreme Court’s decision to grant anticipatory bail offers temporary relief to the actor, while the family’s ongoing disputes remain a subject of public attention.
