New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal addressed allegations on Monday regarding her recent complaint against former Personal Secretary to the Delhi Chief Minister, Bibhav Kumar. She stated that she was previously celebrated as a ‘Lady Singham’ but is now being labeled a ‘BJP agent’.
In a detailed post on social media platform X, Maliwal refuted claims that an FIR was filed against her for corruption. She clarified that the FIR in question was lodged eight years ago in 2016, and both the Chief Minister and the Lieutenant Governor subsequently appointed her as the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) twice. She noted that the case was deemed baseless, with a high court stay order in effect for 1.5 years.
In 2016, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a charge sheet against Maliwal, accusing her of unlawful appointments within the DCW and alleging favoritism towards AAP workers.
Maliwal remarked, “According to them, until I filed a complaint against Bibhav Kumar, I was ‘Lady Singham’ and today I have become a BJP agent.”
She further alleged, “An entire troll army has been deployed against me merely because I spoke the truth. Party members are being contacted and instructed to leak any personal videos of me. They are endangering my relatives by publicizing their details, including car numbers.”
Maliwal asserted, “Lies are short-lived. However, in the intoxication of power and the drive to bring someone down, it should not happen that when the truth emerges, you cannot face your own family. I will pursue legal action for every falsehood spread about me.”
Last week, Maliwal filed an FIR against Bibhav Kumar, accusing him of assault during a visit to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi’s Civil Lines area on May 13. The police have since taken Kumar into custody.
