YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson and television anchor Syamala has launched a scathing attack on the Andhra Pradesh government, accusing Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu of resorting to “diversionary tactics” to mask administrative failures and silence dissent.
Addressing the media, Syamala alleged that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led administration is targeting political opponents who dare to question its performance. She cited the recent arrest of former minister and YSRCP Nellore District President Kakani Govardhan Reddy as a glaring example of what she described as “politically motivated vendetta.”
“Kakani Govardhan Reddy has no connection to the case for which he was arrested. This is clearly an attempt by senior officials, under political pressure, to intimidate opposition leaders,” Syamala charged.
She further accused the government of operating under what she termed a “Red Book Constitution”—a symbolic phrase to describe arbitrary governance and suppression of dissent. According to her, this alleged playbook is being used to distract citizens from the administration’s inability to deliver on its pre-election promises.
“This government is afraid of being held accountable. When people raise their voices, instead of offering answers, they retaliate with arrests and false cases,” Syamala said. “Democracy thrives on dialogue and accountability—not on silencing critics.”
The YSRCP leader urged the government to immediately halt what she called “coercive actions” and warned that the public is closely watching the developments. “When the time comes, the people will respond decisively,” she added.
