PV Sindhu Reaches Syed Modi International Final, Defeats Unnati Hooda
Lucknow, Nov 30: Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has secured her spot in the final of the Syed Modi International Super 300 badminton tournament after a dominant semifinal performance against compatriot Unnati Hooda. Sindhu triumphed 21-12, 21-9 in just 36 minutes, showcasing her superior experience and skills.
The 17-year-old Unnati Hooda, despite a few impressive moments, was unable to challenge Sindhu, who remained composed throughout the match. Sindhu, who has been struggling with form this year, has now reached her first final of the season since the Malaysia Masters in May, where she finished runner-up to China’s Wang Zhi Yi.
In the final, Sindhu will face China’s Wu Luo Yu, who defeated Thailand’s Lalinrat Chaiwan 21-19, 21-12 in the other semifinal.
In other news, India’s mixed doubles duo Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila also advanced to the final with an impressive straight-game victory over China’s Zhi Hong Zhou and Jia Yi Yang, winning 21-16, 21-15 in 42 minutes. The Indian pair will take on Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran in the final.
