In the wake of its landslide victory in the recent elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is preparing to host its annual conclave, Mahanadu, in Kadapa for the first time. The three-day political event is set to take place on May 27, 28, and 29, and is being planned on a grand scale to reflect the party’s renewed mandate and future vision.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a preparatory meeting at the party’s central office on Wednesday, described the upcoming Mahanadu as “a historic moment for Kadapa”, emphasizing its significance in the party’s legacy and the developmental transformation of Rayalaseema.
Structured Agenda for Mahanadu
On Day 1, the focus will be on discussions around the party’s policies, ideology, and roadmap for the coming years. The second day will delve into policy resolutions and welfare schemes planned by the coalition government. A special tribute will also be paid on this day to TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao, whose birth anniversary falls on May 28. The final day will feature a massive public gathering, reflecting the party’s grassroots strength.
Party leaders, including National General Secretary Nara Lokesh, are closely reviewing logistics and arrangements. Lokesh stressed the importance of hosting the Mahanadu in a dignified and celebratory manner, in line with the party’s rich tradition.
To ensure widespread participation, mini-Mahanadus will be conducted at constituency level on May 18–20 and district level on May 22–23, as per the CM’s direction.
Rayalaseema Development in Focus
Highlighting TDP’s longstanding commitment to Rayalaseema, Naidu recounted the party’s contribution to the region—from ending factional violence to initiating major irrigation and infrastructure projects like Handri Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, Telugu Ganga, and Muchumarri Lift Scheme.
“From making drought-hit lands fertile to industrializing the region, TDP has laid the foundation for long-term growth,” he said. He also credited the TDP government for constructing airports in Kadapa and Kurnool.
Former Minister Kalva Srinivasulu added that this Mahanadu will serve as a turning point in addressing Rayalaseema’s backwardness and will chart a development-focused course for the future.
Leadership Election on May 28
As part of the proceedings, the election of the TDP National President will take place on May 28, with nominations scheduled for the previous day. According to State Party President Palla Srinivasa Rao, around 23,000 delegates from various organizational levels will participate in the first two days, while the public meeting on the final day is expected to draw over 50,000 attendees.
