Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers Pay Tribute to P. V. Narasimha Rao on 20th Death Anniversary
On December 23, the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh paid heartfelt tributes to the former Prime Minister, P. V. Narasimha Rao, on his 20th death anniversary. The leaders acknowledged his immense contributions to India’s political and economic landscape.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao expressed that P. V. Narasimha Rao, a son of Telangana, played a pivotal role in steering India through its financial crisis and laid the groundwork for the nation’s economic rise. Rao’s leadership during challenging times earned him widespread respect, particularly for his reforms that transformed India into a global economic force.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, also the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), hailed Narasimha Rao as an exceptional administrator. Naidu emphasized that the reforms initiated by Rao as Prime Minister reshaped India’s trajectory, pulling the country out of economic hardship. “On the occasion of PV’s death anniversary, I pay tribute to the memory of the multi-faceted genius,” Naidu posted on ‘X’.
In Hyderabad, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President B. Mahesh Kumar Gound visited PV Gyan Bhoomi to honor Narasimha Rao. Gound described the late Prime Minister as a “lifelong learner” whose legacy continues to inspire.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and political leaders such as K. Kesava Rao also paid their respects at PV Gyan Bhoomi. Members of Narasimha Rao’s family were present to mark the occasion.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) paid rich tributes, calling Narasimha Rao the “pride of Telangana.” KTR recalled that the BRS government has consistently honored the former Prime Minister, highlighting the celebrations held for his birth centenary. The state government named Necklace Road as PV Marg, installed a statue of Narasimha Rao, and honored his memory by renaming the Veterinary University after him. Moreover, the Telangana government has been at the forefront of advocating for the Bharat Ratna for Narasimha Rao, which it formally recommended to the central government.
KTR noted that the Telangana government has also recognized Narasimha Rao’s legacy by nominating his daughter to the Legislative Council, ensuring the continued remembrance of his impactful role in shaping modern India.
