Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj conducted a comprehensive review of the preparedness for the upcoming polls scheduled for May 27. The review, conducted via video conference on Wednesday, included discussions with District Electoral Officers (DEOs) and Superintendents of Police/Commissioners of Police (SPs/CPs) from the 12 districts encompassing the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda (erstwhile) graduate legislative constituency.
During the conference, CEO Vikas Raj addressed the returning officers and other officials, overseeing the logistical arrangements such as the availability of ballot boxes and papers. District officials affirmed that all necessary arrangements, including the procurement of special pens for marking voter preferences, were in place.
Given the prevailing heat wave in the state, the CEO emphasized the provision of essential amenities like drinking water and shaded areas at all polling booths. He also directed officials to take precautions against any unexpected rainfall during the polling process, particularly during the transportation of ballot papers and other electoral materials.
In terms of security, CEO Vikas Raj instructed SPs and CPs to ensure adequate arrangements at polling stations, distribution and reception centers, strong rooms, and during the transportation of polled ballots, to maintain law and order effectively.
